2009 Diamond Niner Player Update

Former 49er baseball stars Aaron Bray and Rob Lyerly have started their road to the show after being selected in the June amateur draft. Each player has made an impact offensively in their first professional summer.

Lyerly, a sixth-round pick of the New York Yankees, hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th as Staten Island (N.Y.) defeated Aberdeen 4-3 on June 30. Click for story

Bray, drafted by the Houston Astros in the 27th round, had a two-hit, two-RBI day for the Greeneville (Tenn.) Astros the night before, June 29, as Greeneville won at Princeton 9-3.

We will have more updates throughout the summer. To check the progress of any of Charlotte's former players in professional baseball, click here...
