The heels have revenge on their minds as they enter Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium tonight. 48 days ago the Niners invaded The Bosh and stole a victory from the Top-5 foe (2-1).
Lawson threw 5.1 innings, gave up just 1 run while Pierce got the save.
Tonight, the Niners put Andrew Smith (2-7, 4.09, 35 K, 12 BB) on the bump. Smith appeared vs. the Heels once last season. He came into the game in the 12th inning threw just 0.1 inning gave up 1run and Carolina walked-off with the win.
Offensively, the Niners hope to put up more than the 4 hits they managed in last season's home game vs. the Heels. If Ryan Rivers, aka 'Rio', hits like he did in the first game of the season against the ACC rival (a game in which he hit 2 solo home runs) eclipsing 4hits shouldn't be an issue.
*Keep an eye on Aaron Bray tonight. He is listed as a gametime decision after missing the final game of the Saint Joseph's series with an injury. Bray needs just 5 hits/8runs to become the All-Time career leader in those categories.
