Charlotte junior infielder Rob Lyerly was picked in the sixth round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft by the New York Yankees. Lyerly is a two-time First-Team All-Atlantic 10 selection and is Charlotte's highest pick since John Maine went in the sixth round to the Baltimore Orioles in 2002.
