Charlotte was up early for its 8:00 a.m. first round match with Fordham. The 5th-seeded 49ers won the doubles point in quick fashion against the #12-seeded Rams and are now preparing for the singles matches. The Niners singles lineup has Moritz Bernhoerster at #1, Mike Anders at #2, Anthony Davison at #3, Charles Martin-Lecamp at #4, Ricky Cuellar at #5 and Brad Clinard at #6.
Clinard and Chris Huynh won their #2 doubles match, 8-1 while the #3 doubles pairing of Mirza Beciragic and Anders won, 8-0.
The Championship are held at Club 4 Life, an indoor facility in Monroeville, Pa., just south of Pittsburgh. Good to be indoors today with thunderstorms in the area. No threat for delays on a busy first day. If the 49ers win they will play again at approx. 2:00 this afternoon against #4 seed St. Bonaventure, which received a first round bye. Matches are scheduled today at 8:00, 11:00, 2:00 and 5:00.
